Second time ever I have run 10km.

I didn’t intend to run that far, but as you can see from the pics it was a gorgeous morning, the sun was shining, the breeze was cooling and my little old legs just kept going…..!? 🏃‍♂️🏃‍♂️🏃‍♂️

Herne Bay old pier

The pier was destroyed in a storm in 1978 and then dismantled in 1980

Today there is a new pier right next to it.

I came so close yesterday, only for the cloud cover to stop me right at the end.
Luckily today was clearer conditions and I managed to get the shot 🌅

Herne Bay, like nearly every town and village in the UK, is about to have its annual outbreak of flashing lights.
Around three in every 100 people with epilepsy have photosensitive epilepsy. Various types of seizure can be triggered by flashing or flickering light: tonic-clonic, absence, myoclonic and focal seizures – all disabling and some dangerous.
Christmas-tree lights that are sold to the public do not have to comply with health and safety regulations. They can flash at any rate, so they can and do cause people to have seizures.

I saw the first mass of Christmas lights today so soon will be the season I can no longer go out of the house without my dark glasses and being aware of every space around me. December until January is a nightmare because of the danger of suffering seizures as a result of flashing Christmas lights in shops and front gardens. Those seizures may continue for days following just one exposure.

Many people assume that epilepsy is now controllable, but 20% of epilepsy patients have seizures that do not respond to treatment.

So this year, when you switch on your Christmas lights on – please realise that if you set them to flash you are actually ruining Christmas for some. Set them to continuous and not flash. Then we can all have a merry Christmas.

Good little trip to Herne Bay this afternoon. Always a nice spot for a stroll, especially in the unseasonal weather. My Dad has been gone 8 years today, I still miss him immensely. It is always good to go on a trip to remember him in my own way. I recall trips here with my Dad and also a memorable kayak trip to the pier head with angelouise123, cforrester00 and friends. All great memories that may in part fade but never leave me.
