Herne Bay and the Pier hold a special place in my heart, rooted in cherished childhood visits with my
parents and a lifelong love of the seaside and coast.
I have always had a love for the great outdoors, a keen gardener, ex-sportsperson in a number of
different events, indoors and out. Previously was a volunteer at a Country Park, assisting Park Rangers,
with all sorts of work and when my husband and I moved nearer to the seafront and closer to our family,
decided to join the Pier’s volunteer maintenance team, meeting weekly to help preserve its charm and
carry out all the little odd jobs that are required for the upkeep of our lovely Pier.
My involvement grew through marshalling at various events held throughout the year, have been known
as a scary person for Halloween, festive elf at Christmas, herding farm animals at Easter, but mostly
helping in Bar 19 (Pier Trust Bar) for their Events, along with my other lovely volunteers. Was recently
invited to become a Trustee and I hope my dedication to Herne Bay Pier will continue to flourish, driven
by a genuine love for this beautiful coastal treasure we have on our doorstep.
