Samba Pelo Mar means ‘Samba by the Sea’ in Portuguese. Samba as a music genre has its origins in Rio de Janeiro, the former capital of Brazil and Samba is recognized around the world as a symbol of Brazil and the Brazilian Carnival. Based on a Samba style, our music is adapted and fused with world rhythms composed by our Musical Director, Ann Day.
Since forming in 2007 we’ve gone from strength to strength, performing at a variety of venues across Kent, including the opening of Whitstable’s famous Oyster Festival & Canterbury Festival. As well as taking Bookings for Events, Samba Pelo Mar actively supports a number of Charitable causes. In 2016, more than £17,000 was raised for Pilgrims Hospices in Kent.
Our sound is dynamic, upbeat and makes people dance! Samba is colourful, enthusiastic, and brings a joyful community feel to any event.
We play at festivals, large parties, small gatherings, school transition workshops, charitable fundraising events, teaching and training opportunities, and team building events, to name a few.
